How long does it take before the hearing aid is ready?
The majority of our hearing aids are bespoke instruments that are custom made for you. This process usually takes about 2 weeks.

Should I buy one hearing aid or two?
If your hearing loss is in both ears you should purchase a device for each ear. Overwhelming evidence exists that people adapt quicker and experience higher success rates when wearing two devices. Wearing two devices will help you hear better in background noise, will provide the ability to tell the direction of sound, and will allow you to run both hearing aids at a comfortable lower volume as opposed to turning the volume up very high on just one hearing aid.

Can I have a trial period?
We offer a 30 day trial period, which begins the day you are fitted with the hearing instruments. If you are not completely satisfied with your new hearing aids you may return them for a refund.

What should users of new hearing aids realistically expect?

When wearing hearing aids:

Your hearing in quiet environments (one to one communication watching TV, etc) should be improved.
Your hearing in moderate background noise should be improved.
Your hearing in background noise is NOT going to be as good as your hearing in quiet.
Soft speech should be audible, average speech should be comfortable; loud speech should be loud, but never uncomfortable.
Your earmoulds should fit comfortably.
Your own voice should be "acceptable" to you.
There should be no feedback when the hearing aids are properly seated in your ears.
You may hear sounds you have not heard for a while (like footsteps or the refrigerator humming), this is normal. Be patient. It requires time to adjust to hearing aids. Your listening skills should improve gradually as you become accustomed to amplification.
Hearing aids WILL NOT restore your hearing capabilities to "normal" or to pre-existing levels, but should provide a significant improvement over base level.
